Benefits and Features of Prostaff 7i Laser Rangefinder

Now, look at some of the main features and benefits of this laser rangefinder with comprehensive details.

Accuracy & Range(Minimum-Maximum)

When it comes to accuracy, you always check first on any of the laser rangefinders.

Just because the primary purpose of the rangefinder is to keep measuring distance with accurate data within one or two yards.

In this laser rangefinder, you can find the distance for 8-600 yards with ±0.5 yd/m accuracy.

And above 600 yards, it will show you data with 1 to 2 yards accuracy, so it is pretty accurate and trustworthy for long-range.

The minimum range of the Prostaff 7i Laser Rangefinder is 8 yards that means it is not able to measure distance below 8 yards.

Also, in golf or hunting, there is a rare case you need to measure range under 8 yards.

The maximum range on highly reflective targets is 1300 yards away, which is sufficient for golf, hunting, or even sniper shooting.

So this laser rangefinder has the versatility to able to use any sports or big games like hunting and shooting.

But, some users found that past 800 Yards this rangefinder was not able to pick up targets.

Also, this device capable of measuring incline and decline distance with the help of ID technology.

If you are a bowhunter, then you will love this functionality, when if you are standing at a tree, where you can use it.

Here you can leverage the elevation angle of your target and the horizontal distance as well as.

However, I recognize that physics and math are not everyone’s specialty, for that you can use ID technology very well.

This small device will make your game so much easier just because it does all of the calculations within seconds.

Different Modes

Nikon Prostaff 7i Laser Range Finder comes with Tru-Target Priority mode, ID (Incline/Decline) Technology, Actual Distance display mode, Horizontal Distance display mode.

Also, it is a built-in inclinometer to measures the upward or downward angle from you to target.

However, it has continuous scan mode, so you can measure the distance of the bunker, trees, or moving deer(any prey).

A Target Priority mode allows you to switch between Distant Target Priority mode and First Target Priority mode depending on subject situations.

When you active the First Target Priority mode, it will display the distance of the nearest subject.

And the Distant Target Priority mode will display the farthest subject from you.

The Actual Distance display mode shows you the actual line-of-sight distance.

The Horizontal Distance display mode presents adjusted distance based on incline or decline angle.

When you see “ang” below the reticle, that means the rangefinder is in angle compensated mode and showing horizontal distances.

And if the letters are either “1st” or “Dst” which target priority mode in use, so don’t be confused.

And the last scan mode, if you are ever used any laser rangefinder, then you are probably familiar with it.

The continuous scan mode allows you to measure the distance of multiple objects at the same time.

Like a bunker, trees, or any other moving target like deer or elk, which saves your time.

Although, It has a muli-distance mode to give you two measurements in Meter and Yard(vice versa).

Also, it has a cool battery saver feature, the device automatically shuts off after 8 seconds of inactivity.

Optics Quality & Readability

Now let’s talk about optics quality and readability of the Nikon Prostaff 7i Laser Range Finder.

Without quality optics, a laser rangefinder is just nuts. But nowadays, rangefinder gives you the best image clarity.

Also, the Nikon brand knows its best camera and optical products, so they never down your expectations.

Prostaff 7i Laser Rangefinder has a black LCD display, which is still much used on budget rangefinders.

Other than that, it has 6X magnification to provide crystal clear image quality.

Also, the adjustable 18.3mm eye-relief ensure you to clear view in any condition and eye comfort.

It has not illuminated bright display, which is the most expensive laser rangefinder comes with. Alike the Zeiss laser rangefinder.

However, the black indicators with LCD display are challenging to use in dark and dust backgrounds.

Also, it works through the mesh in a ground blind circumstances.

Finally, there is a battery icon that estimates the amount of power left in the CR2 battery.

Durable & Lightweight

The weight of this device is just 175grams(6.2 Ounce), so it is pretty lightweight.

The outer surface is coated with rubber armor, so it should be able to handle crashes and drops with ease.

Although it comes in carrying pouch, so use it when you are transporting. Also, it is a waterproof case.

Also, it has a slip-resistant grip for stability, so it’s durable and easily fits on your hand and pocket.

Waterproof & Fog-proof

The Nikon Prostaff 7i Laser Rangefinder is waterproof and fog proof that makes ideal for any weather conditions.

The multi-coated optics are chamber with nitrogen purged, so it will give you top-notch image clarity in a foggy situation.

Many cheap laser rangefinders are not provided this level muli coating with N2(nitrogen) gas.

Sometimes it is hard to figure out a target on snow and full rainy conditions.

The Nikon Prostaff 7i is the perfect laser rangefinder for all kinds of hunting conditions, woods, fields, mountains.

Very accurate and easy to read LCD digital display. The cost is more than reasonable, and the warranty is included.

All in all, this rangefinder is ideal for golf, hunting, archery, and shooting.

Also, keep in mind hunting rangefinders won’t have a pin lock mode as most golf rangefinders have.

I would highly recommend this laser rangefinder for hunting and golf if you have a mid-range budget. It will not disappoint you with accuracy and quality.
